Tuesday, 11th March
Only been in Hong Kong four full days now but seems like a week with all that we’ve done. After the first day of packing in a few of the sights, we followed that up with some more wandering, checking out the Graham Street market and a ‘failed’ trip to Causeway Bay and the Noon Day Gun (cannons are not that impressive when covered by a tarp).
In the evening we parted ways. Kirsty took herself out for dinner up near Lan Kwai Fong and I ventured out for Johann’s bucks night which involved all the usual, won’t go into the details.

The day after was a slow start owing to the bucks night but once up we went out for a lovely lunch off Hollywood Road after which we re-visited the Graham Street market to pick up some ingredients for dinner. I felt like a challenge of cooking in a tiny apartment with a kitchen consisting of a hot plate and not much else. My only chopping surface being no top of the washing machine. We then took ourselves out to the Happy Valley races, apparently the thing to do on a Wednesday night judging by the crowds. Needless to say we didn’t win anything.

Yesterday we started the day off with a steep tram ride up Victoria Peak to catch a glimpse of what Hong Kong looks like from 500 or so metres. After coming down the peak we caught a ferry to Lamma Island, an out-lying island about 40 minutes away. We quickly found somewhere for lunch with a sea view which was followed by a walk to the other side of the island with lookout points on the way. After catching the ferry back to the main Hong Kong island we went out to sample the nightlife and a few drinks in and around Lan Kwai Fong.
