Final days in Hong Kong

Friday, 14th March – Saturday, 15th March
Our time in Hong Kong is over now and we are heading to Sri Lanka. We have had a great time in this city typified by our last couple of days. We had Johann and Carol’s wedding on the Friday in which we were part of the Bridal Party. We started the day over at Johann’s parents apartment complete with a rooftop looking back onto Victoria Peak before being driven to the wedding venue which was an old colonial club back in the heydays of British rule (Helena May). A lovely evening was followed up the next day with a post-wedding dinner held at Yung Kee restaurant near Lan Kwai Fong. Expecting a special dinner, we weren’t quite expecting a VIP room with 14 courses of traditional Cantonese food including century eggs, steamed abalone, roast goose, tea-steamed roast pork belly and prawns to mention a few. Can honestly say one of the best meals we’ve both ever had and sure to be the fanciest on this trip! Here are some pics of the century eggs and juicy roast goose with crispy pork skin.

Full of good food those keen to keep going, us included, wandered to a rooftop cocktail bar with a view of the harbour before heading back to Lan Kwai Fong for more bars, rooftops with views and street drinking outside 7-Eleven. The first photo below shows the view from the 29th floor Azure bar atop the LKF Tower (spot the taxis) and the second photo is a view down into the epicentre of Lan Kwai Fong.

We feel like we really made the most of out 7 days in Hong Kong. Now for Sri Lanka and a change in pace from the metropolis to national parks, tea plantations and beaches.
